Overview

The Security Engineer II is responsible for protecting DreamHost, our infrastructure, and our customers in a large, multi-tenant Linux hosting environment where untrusted code runs on our machines by design. This is a hands-on engineering role. You will investigate live compromises, build the tooling and detections that find the next one, review the security of our own applications and infrastructure, and drive down long-standing risk across a fleet spanning shared hosting, VPS, managed WordPress, dedicated servers, cloud, and email.

You will work on a small security team where everyone owns real workstreams end to end, partners directly with Systems, Development, Abuse, and Support, and is expected to exercise judgment without waiting for permission.

What you’ll work on

  • Incident response across shared, virtualized, and dedicated Linux hosts — compromise investigation, blast-radius scoping, containment, evidence preservation, and write-ups.

  • Detection engineering: malware and webshell signatures, log-based detections, and reducing the false positives that create alert fatigue at fleet scale.

  • Application security review of our in-house control plane, customer panel, and internal tooling, plus the third-party and open-source code we depend on.

  • Secrets management modernization such as moving static credentials into Vault, adopting dynamic credentials, and eliminating plaintext secrets from code, logs, and CI.

  • Identity and access lifecycle: directory and SSO migration, privileged access review, and durable offboarding.

  • Vulnerability management and patch velocity across a large, heterogeneous fleet, including end-of-life OS and runtime remediation.

  • Automation. Anything done manually more than twice is a candidate for tooling, and you’ll build it.

  • Security review and governance of AI and agent tooling as it’s adopted internally — data exposure, permission scope, agent identity, and abuse paths. You’ll also be using these tools heavily yourself; the team runs on them.

Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex security incidents, coordinating across teams and communicating status clearly while facts are still incomplete.

  • Design and implement safeguards protecting customer sites, accounts, and infrastructure from active and evolving threats.

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, security reviews, and risk analysis, with remediation guidance engineers can act on.

  • Build automation and tooling that improves detection, monitoring, response, and operational safety.

  • Partner with Systems, Development, Abuse, and Support to get security controls implemented rather than merely recommended.

  • Mentor less experienced team members and contribute to the team’s shared knowledge and runbooks.

  • Contribute to security policy, standards, and process, and support compliance efforts without mistaking compliance for security.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years in security engineering, incident response, application security, offensive security, or systems administration, with demonstrated ability to resolve complex security problems independently.

  • Depth in at least one of: application security, incident response and detection engineering, or offensive security and penetration testing plus working competence in the other two.

  • Strong hands-on Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred), including low-level concepts: processes, namespaces, capabilities, filesystems, kernels, and how things actually break.

  • Experience operating long-lived production systems that can’t simply be rebuilt including repairing hosts in place, under load, with real users on them.

  • Experience in multi-tenant or customer-facing environments where users are untrusted.

  • Scripting and automation you’ve shipped and operated in production. Python, Go, Bash, Perl, or similar. We care that you’ve built and maintained real tooling, not which language.

  • Log analysis and investigation at scale, and comfort with intrusion detection and web application firewalls (mod_security or similar).

  • Working knowledge of cloud platform security (AWS, GCP, Azure, or OpenStack) including IAM, network controls, and workload isolation.

  • Familiarity with secrets management and CI/CD security (Vault or equivalent, pipeline hardening, dependency and supply-chain risk).

  • Version control and infrastructure-as-code fluency (Git, Ansible or similar).

  • Practical, current fluency with AI tooling in your own work. You use it daily, you know where it fails, and you can say what you don’t let it do. We are not looking for enthusiasm or for resistance, but for someone who has integrated these tools into real engineering work and formed opinions from experience.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, including translating technical risk for non-technical stakeholders.

  • A strong sense of ethics, healthy skepticism, and the patience to stay useful under pressure.

Nice to have

  • Web hosting or WordPress-at-scale experience, as a provider or a customer.

  • Container and orchestration security (Podman, Docker, Kubernetes) including escape and isolation failure modes.

  • Malware analysis, YARA rule authorship, or reverse engineering.

  • Detection-as-code or SIEM engineering experience.

  • Hands-on experience securing AI/LLM systems, agent frameworks, or MCP tooling. Prompt injection, tool-permission scoping, or data-boundary work.

  • Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 — as context, not as a career.

  • Open source contributions.

Compensation

  • $125,000-$145,000 / yearly

*This is a full-time, remote position open to candidates based in Singapore. Applicants must be authorized to work in Singapore without employer sponsorship.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) Analyst will be responsible for monitoring all source information to proactively identify and assess risks and threats to the client, its hosts, and their guests. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesize intelligence from multiple sources into products that clearly communicate risk and opportunity.  “Open source investigation” includes ongoing, persistent monitoring for threats; person of interest (POI) investigations; and social media analysis. This position sits under the organization’s Global Investigations (GI) program and within Fraud & Safety Operations, which drives proactive detection, investigation, and enforcement against organized platform abuse and severe safety threats.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor social media and public sources with OSINT tools to find advertising and event promotions that mention the client, using keyword, hashtag, geolocation, and image-based search techniques.
  • Investigate each post to connect the promoter, venue, or hosting account to client activity: user accounts, connected accounts, listings searched and shared, and messaging or booking signals.
  • Use internal data tools and basic SQL to query account, listing, and reservation data; pivot on identifiers such as phone, email, device, and payment to resolve an advertisement to reservations and surface connected accounts.
  • Assess the level of risk (event size, timing, awareness, prior incidents, weapons or drug references) and recommend a tactical mitigation, from review to cancellation and account enforcement.
  • Escalate resolved cases to Community Support Safety and other stakeholders with clear, evidence-backed write-ups, and document every step in the case management system to a standard that supports enforcement and, where needed, law enforcement disclosure.
  • Follow the misattributed accounts user agreement, privacy guidelines, and levels-of-research policy on every case.
  • Track case volume and outcomes, flag recurring promoters and venues, and share patterns that strengthen detection with the GI team and partner teams.
  • Research international locations where clients and their employees may visit. This information may include crime and safety risks, political stability, and travel safety with regard to hotels and event venues, local customs and courtesies, and transportation best practices.
  • Follow company procedures and processes as they relate to industry best practices and handling of confidential information.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other business partners to effectively support their needs.
  • Work a flexible schedule as part of a 24⁄7 team, including assigned shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform to and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
  • This position may require up to 10% travel

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–4 years of experience in OSINT, trust and safety, fraud, intelligence, or investigations, or demonstrated skills commensurate with that experience.
  • Hands-on open-source research skills: social media investigation, advanced Boolean searches, reverse image search, geolocation, and account attribution across platforms.

This is a remote position. We are looking for candidates in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany or Sweden.

Senior Software Engineer - Security Assurances

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Security Assurance to join our GRC engineering team. We are building a security system that’s automated at scale, rigorously data-driven, and built from the ground up with defense-in-depth and self-healing in mind. We support a highly autonomous, remote-first, cloud-native organization. We are a technical team that can build any tool we need, while knowing when to buy to improve velocity.

To support our growth and ambitious vision, we embrace agile principles and values, share openly, apply context-driven security mechanisms, default to action, and have an OSS-first mindset. We are a 100% remote company. We believe in high-velocity but sustainable expectations and timeframes, giving people the room to do great work.

The Opportunity:

You will work to build out our security observability, compliance, and control management systems and tools. You will develop services and tools to proactively defend our systems, provide visibility to our security state, and give engineers and stakeholders guardrails and paved roads to behave securely. You will collaborate across your team, the security department, and wider Grafana to write and deploy security policies across all of our SDLC, applications, and infrastructure.

This is a very technical, hands-on keyboard software engineering, so development experience is critical. You will ideally have some experience building, implementing and improving the maturity of security programs in Cloud-based SaaS organizations. Knowledge of security standards and frameworks (ISO, FedRAMP, PCI-DSS, GDPR, etc) is useful, but the disposition to quickly learn new things is more important than rote knowledge. You will work alongside other security engineers, full-stack developers, and customer-facing teams. Experience guiding and negotiating with peers, stakeholders, customers, and auditors is a plus.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Be a technical contributor on our GRC team covering a range of areas, including certifications, application, build, cloud, and supply chain security, and internal security tooling development
  • Develop, implement, and maintain highly automated security assurance programs to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, NIST, PCI-DSS, TISAX, whatever else our customers eventually throw at us)
  • Develop systems, automations, and methods of security observability to push the GRC engineering organization beyond just meeting certification requirements
  • Deploy security and compliance checks in an employee-enabling way (guardrails and paved roads) in their daily workflows and build pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into the software development lifecycle and operational processes.
  • Respond to customer security issues, security alerts, and potential incidents

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Experience developing in a production environment with at least one programming language. We primarily use Go, TypeScript, and Python but most languages translate well. You will take a code screen and be expected to discuss programming principles such as algorithms, data structures, and optimization
  • Knowledge of using and securing containerized, cloud-native applications, ideally with Kubernetes. Experience with multiple cloud providers is a strong plus
  • Experience in automating security and compliance processes using tools, scripts, and frameworks while enabling developer and employee workflows
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as this position will require communication with peers, stakeholders, auditors, and customers
  • Understanding of industry-recognized security frameworks, standards, and certifications, such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, NIST, or GDPR, and how to apply them without added operational burden. You can gain this by reading the standards documents and audit guidance
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Bonus Points For:

  • Working knowledge of Grafana Labs OSS projects and products. Experience in using observability tooling to solve security problems.
  • Experience working with OSS communities
  • Experience in using technical automations to prove infrastructure compliance
  • Experience securing large-scale distributed systems running in public clouds

In Germany, the base compensation range for this role is €97,034 - €116,441. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. Security Staff Security Engineer, Imunify360 (remote work) at CloudLinux

Leads hands-on threat analysis, malware and exploit investigation, and development of production security detections and mitigations.

Lead Remote Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

CloudLinux is a global remote-first company. We are driven by our principles: do the right thing, employees first, we are remote first, and we deliver high-volume, low-cost Linux infrastructure and security products that help companies to increase the efficiency of their operations. Every person on our team supports each other and does what we can to ensure we all are successful.

Check out our website for more information: cloudlinux.com

We are currently hiring a Staff Security Engineer within the Imunify360 product.

Imunify360 is CloudLinux’s security suite for Linux web servers. It protects hundreds of thousands of hosting servers and the websites running on them, so it sees most large-scale web attacks early — often in the first hours.

Check out our website for more information: https://imunify360.com/

Role Mission & Scope

At Imunify360, protecting customers from evolving cyber threats requires close collaboration between security research, engineering, and other teams. Responding to complex attack campaigns involves more than identifying threats — it requires understanding attack techniques, developing effective detection and mitigation strategies, and ensuring customers are protected.

As a Staff Security Engineer, you’ll take end-to-end technical ownership of complex security challenges, from initial threat discovery and analysis to detection, mitigation, and post-incident review.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on practical security engineering rather than SOC monitoring, compliance, or purely theoretical research. You’ll analyze malware and exploit code, develop detection and mitigation tools, anticipate emerging attack techniques, and ensure security findings translate into production-ready detections, mitigations, and fixes.

You’ll work closely with engineering, security research, support, external partners, and the broader security community to coordinate responses and drive continuous improvements in our security capabilities.

As an individual contributor, you won’t have direct reports or people management responsibilities. All security research and testing are conducted within authorized boundaries, with clearly defined scope and responsible disclosure practices.

Your mission is to strengthen Imunify360’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to emerging threats, delivering measurable security improvements that protect customers at scale.

What you will own

Malware and campaign mitigation

  • Lead response to large-scale exploitation and malware campaigns: triage, root cause, and mitigation across every protection layer of the product.
  • Reverse-engineer malware and exploits targeting Linux servers and web applications.
  • Track campaigns over time, not just individual samples: cluster indicators, connect activity to known actors and toolkits, anticipate the next variant.
  • Define and run measurable outcomes per campaign: time to detect, time to protect, cleanup effectiveness, reinfection rate.

Security response coordination

  • Own the security incident and response process, both for threats against our customers and for vulnerabilities in our own product: severity model, runbooks, communication, escalation.
  • Coordinate with external parties — software vendors, partners, CERTs/CSIRTs, abuse desks, other security vendors. Drive responsible disclosure where we find vulnerabilities.
  • Be the technical voice in security advisories and partner briefings, together with Product and Support.
  • Triage external vulnerability reports.

Offensive security on our own product

  • Red-team our product and infrastructure. Assume a capable attacker who already has a foothold.
  • Threat-model new features before they ship; own the security review gate for high-risk changes.
  • Turn findings into fixes with the owning teams, not just reports.

Detection engineering and tooling

  • Raise the quality bar of detections: false-positive budgets, test corpora, staged rollout with measurement gates and fast rollback.
  • Build and automate the analysis pipeline: dynamic analysis, honeypots, telemetry-driven hunting, ML-assisted triage where it measurably helps.
  • Write production code for these tools; expect 30–50% of your time to be hands-on building.
  • Turn telemetry into intelligence: emerging exploits, attacker infrastructure, trends — shared as internal briefs and selected public research.

People multiplier (no direct reports)

  • Mentor analysts and engineers; raise the security skill level across teams.
  • Bar-raiser in security hiring loops.

Key Milestones

  • 30 days: Analyzed real threats end-to-end. Mapped the current response flow and where it breaks. Shipped at least one detection or mitigation to production.
  • 90 days: Security response process and severity model published and agreed. Led at least one real campaign response with a written post-mortem. Baseline response metrics in place.
  • 6 months: Time from first sighting to protection measurably reduced vs. baseline. First red-team review completed, top findings fixed. Working relationships with key external partners.
  • 12 months: Recognized internally and externally as the owner of security response. Public research or disclosures published. Teams can run a standard campaign response without you.

Must have

  • 10+ years in security engineering, malware research, incident response, or offensive security, with several years leading cross-team work at Staff/Principal/Lead scope.
  • Deep hands-on malware analysis and reverse engineering skills.
  • Strong web application security and practical exploitation experience.
  • Deep Linux knowledge from both the attacker’s and the defender’s side.
  • Proven incident response leadership on large-scale events: you have run the response, written the advisory, and closed the post-mortem.
  • Production coding in Python plus a systems language (Go, Rust or C).
  • Experience with coordinated vulnerability disclosure and working with the security community.
  • Clear, short writing for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders; works well async across time zones.
  • Daily user of AI tools for analysis and coding, with critical judgment about their output.

Nice to have

  • Background in hosting or large web ecosystems.

  • Detection authoring at scale (signatures, WAF/IDS rules).

  • Kernel-level monitoring and rootkit detection.

  • Threat intelligence practice and actor tracking.

  • ML for malware classification.

  • Public track record: CVEs, published research, talks, CTFs, open-source security tools.

  • Relevant certifications are a plus, not a requirement.

What’s in it for you?

  • Stay hands-on technically while owning complex, high-impact engineering work.
  • Work on challenging Linux, automation, and cybersecurity problems across mature and newer products.
  • Influence technical direction and make meaningful architectural decisions.
  • Work independently with a high level of ownership and autonomy.
  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours.
  • 24 paid vacation days, 10 national holidays, and unlimited sick leave.
  • Private medical insurance compensation.
  • Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement.
  • Education budget.
  • Opportunity to receive a reward for innovative ideas that the company can patent.

By applying for this position, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy ( https://cloudlinux.com/candidate-privacy-notice ), which provides detailed information on how we maintain and handle your data.

Security Stripe: Abuse Research Engineer

Conducts proactive threat hunting, fraud kill-chain analysis, adversary research, and agentic simulations to identify and eliminate Stripe product vulnerabilities.

Senior Remote Posted 4 days ago We Work Remotely — Programming
What this role involves

Headquarters: Remote from the US

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Abuse Research Group (ARG) handles proactive threat hunting and adversary behavior analysis across Stripe products. Rather than reacting to alerts, the team maps end-to-end fraud and abuse paths, validates novel attack vectors, and identifies product conditions that enable fraud. Using agentic automated testing and simulation tools, ARG translates research into actionable threat advisories, strategic control recommendations, and regression scenarios to systematically eliminate vulnerabilities.

What you’ll do

As an Abuse Research Engineer in the Abuse Research Group, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Stripe’s financial ecosystem by proactively hunting for advanced threats, dissecting complex fraud vectors, and extracting actionable adversary intelligence.  Rather than relying solely on reactive alerts, you will develop and execute hypothesis-driven threat hunting operations across internal telemetry and external sources to uncover fraudulent tools, tactics, and techniques (TTPs) before they impact Stripe’s platform. Central to this work is FT3 (Fraud Taxonomy 3.0), Stripe’s multi-layered taxonomy that decomposes monolithic fraud into structured kill chains.  Collaborating cross-functionally with Fraud Ops, Strategy, Risk, Onboarding, and Security, you will integrate threat intelligence, build agentic simulation workflows, and systematically eliminate product vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Proactive Threat Hunting & Kill Chain Analysis: Formulate hypotheses and conduct iterative threat hunting operations across Stripe systems and external data.
  • FT3 Taxonomy: Apply and enrich the FT3 framework across empirical datasets and incidents, standardizing threat intelligence across kill chain phases and targeted API endpoints.
  • Threat Intelligence & Signal Expansion: Partner with teams like Fraud Intelligence to integrate, curate, and automate threat feeds into engineering workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Advisories & Strategic Controls: Translate raw research and retrospective findings into actionable threat advisories and control recommendations (policy, technical systems, support workflows, and detection mechanisms) for stakeholders across Fraud, Risk, Onboarding, and Security.
  • Agentic Testing & Adversary Simulation: Utilize agentic automated testing frameworks to simulate adversary TTPs, validate whether deployed controls interrupt empirical kill chains, and generate regression scenarios to exercise controls.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of experience conducting threat intelligence, threat hunting, or technical incident response within cyber security, product abuse, or trust domains.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing large, complex datasets using data analytics tools to identify anomalies, map behavioral trends, and solve complex fraud problems.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert proficiency in Python and SQL, with demonstrated experience using code and scripting to automate workflows, build investigative tools, or query big data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience in log analysis (e.g., application logs, API route telemetry, network security events), digital forensics, and cyber investigation methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical research into clear, actionable recommendations and advisories for cross-functional partners.

Preferred qualifications

  • Deep technical understanding of threat actor motivations, infrastructure, and TTPs specific to financial fraud (e.g., ATO, Card Testing, Credential Stuffing).
  • Familiarity with standardized taxonomies such as FT3 or MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Proficiency with engineering, data processing, and analysis platforms such as Databricks, Trino, PySpark, Pandas, or Scikit-Learn.
  • Proven background utilizing Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs), tactical threat feeds, OSINT, and breach intelligence.
  • Demonstrated capability building or leveraging agentic LLM tools, automated testing systems, or control validation frameworks to model adversary behavior at scale.
  • Participation in industry conferences, webinars, or threat-sharing groups, alongside relevant professional certifications (e.g., GCTI, GCFA, OSCP).

Security Staff Application Security Engineer at Fingerprint

Builds and operates the application security program, secure SDLC, threat modeling, code review, and security testing tooling.

Lead Remote Posted 4 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Fingerprint empowers enterprises to detect and stop online fraud with the world’s most accurate device intelligence.  We lead our industry with bleeding-edge identification capabilities and work on turning new ideas and discoveries in the fraud detection space into reality. Our customers range from innovative startups to leading enterprise companies, including Plaid, Dropbox, and Booking.com.

Fingerprint is a globally dispersed, 100% remote company. We were named on on the 2026 Forbes Best Startup Employers list and ranked #803 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.

We have raised $77M and are backed by Craft Ventures (Tesla, Facebook, Airbnb ), Nexus Venture Partners ( Postman, Apollo.io, MinIO, Druva) and Uncorrelated Ventures ( Redis, Rollbar,  Gradle).

The Role in Context

Fingerprint’s device intelligence platform processes billions of identification events for some of the world’s most security-conscious companies — financial institutions, fraud prevention operators, and enterprises that rely on us to stop attackers. That makes our own application security a product feature, not a back-office function: our customers’ adversaries are, by definition, motivated to probe what we build.

As we scale with large enterprise customers, we’re investing in application security as a dedicated, first-class engineering discipline. Security is already part of how our teams build — scanning in the pipeline, a Cloud Platform team that treats security as a partner, and a mature compliance posture — and we’re now standing up a focused AppSec function, led by a Senior Manager, Application Security who owns the program and strategy, to take it to the next level. You will be the founding senior engineer of that function — the person who turns strategy into a working secure SDLC, finds and fixes what matters, and raises the security bar across engineering through technical depth, tooling, and influence.

This is a hands-on Staff role. You will design, build, and operate — not just advise.

What You’ll Do

Secure SDLC & Security Engineering

  • Design and build Fingerprint’s secure development lifecycle: security requirements, threat modeling at design time, secure code review, and pre-release security testing — integrated into how engineers already work, not bolted on as a gate
  • Own and operate the security tooling pipeline: SAST, DAST, SCA/dependency scanning, secrets detection, and container/IaC scanning (Snyk and equivalents) — tuned for signal over noise, integrated into CI/CD, with clear ownership and SLAs for findings
  • Build the pipeline AI-first: AI-assisted triage and auto-remediation, security review agents that run inside the coding-agent loop and in CI, and AI-augmented testing — and decide, with evidence, what each is trusted to block, flag, or fix on its own
  • Build paved-road security: secure defaults, hardened libraries and frameworks, reusable patterns (authn/authz, input validation, secrets handling, crypto) that make the secure path the easy path
  • Write code. Contribute fixes, security libraries, CI integrations, and automation directly to engineering repositories

Threat Modeling, Security Reviews & Vulnerability Management

  • Lead threat modeling and architecture security reviews for new products, features, and significant changes across the API, SDKs (web and mobile), dashboard, and data pipeline
  • Run and mature the vulnerability management program: triage, risk-rate, and drive remediation of findings from scanners, pen tests, bug bounty, and customer reports — with clear severity standards and remediation SLAs
  • Partner with the Compliance Lead, who runs the penetration testing program today, on scoping, retesting, and turning findings into engineering work — you bring the technical depth and own remediation
  • Perform hands-on security testing of Fingerprint’s platform — manual review and exploitation of authn/authz, API, injection, SSRF, business-logic, and abuse-path issues — with particular attention to the fraud and bot-detection threat surface where adversaries actively attempt to defeat the product

Incident Response & Detection (application layer)

  • Serve as the technical lead for application-layer security incidents: investigation, containment, root cause, and remediation — partnering with Cloud Platform on infrastructure incidents
  • Define what application security logging and alerting should exist, and partner with Cloud Platform and engineering teams to get it built

Security Culture & Enablement

  • Act as the AppSec partner to engineering teams: office hours, design consultations, secure coding guidance, and a Security Champions program that scales your impact beyond one person
  • Develop and deliver practical secure coding training grounded in Fingerprint’s real codebase and real findings
  • Mentor engineers in security thinking and raise the bar through code review and design feedback

Partnership & Customer Trust

  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Application Security on the AppSec roadmap: bring technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations that shape priorities; own execution of the technical program
  • Provide the engineering evidence behind security controls when compliance needs it — you make the controls real; the compliance program is owned elsewhere
  • Support enterprise customer security conversations with technical depth: questionnaires, architecture questions, pen test summaries, and due diligence calls with customer InfoSec teams
  • Contribute to vendor security assessments where third-party code or integrations touch the platform

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 8+ years in software engineering and/or security engineering, with 5+ years focused on application security — you’ve been the hands-on AppSec engineer at a product company, not a consultant or auditor passing through
  • Strong software engineering foundation: You write production-quality code (TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Python, or similar), understand modern web and API architectures, and are comfortable working inside engineering repositories and CI/CD pipelines
  • Deep practical AppSec expertise: OWASP Top 10 and beyond — authentication and authorization design, API security, injection classes, SSRF, cryptography misuse, business-logic and abuse flaws. You can find these issues by hand, explain why they matter, and propose fixes engineers accept
  • Threat modeling and security review experience: You’ve led design-time security reviews for complex systems and produced threat models that engineers used
  • Security tooling program experience: You’ve deployed and tuned SAST/DAST/SCA/secrets-detection tooling in CI/CD and made it useful rather than noisy
  • AI-native security tooling: You’ve run AI-assisted code analysis, triage, or auto-remediation in a real program — not a trial — and have earned opinions about where it’s trustworthy, where it generates noise, and what should be allowed to block a merge. You use AI agents daily in your own security work
  • Vulnerability management ownership: You’ve run triage, severity rating, remediation tracking, and pen-test programs with real SLAs
  • Influence without authority: A track record of raising security outcomes across engineering teams through credibility, partnership, and good tooling — not mandates
  • Clear communication: You write precise findings and design feedback, and you can explain technical risk to engineers, leadership, and customer security teams alike

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fraud detection, bot mitigation, identity, or device intelligence — the adversarial threat surface here is real and domain-specific
  • Cloud security depth on AWS (IAM, network boundaries, secrets management, workload identity) and familiarity with Wiz or equivalent CSPM tooling
  • Client-side and mobile SDK security: browser security model, anti-tampering, obfuscation trade-offs, iOS/Android SDK hardening
  • Multi-tenant SaaS experience with high-volume, latency-sensitive APIs
  • Bug bounty program operation (HackerOne, Bugcrowd, or equivalent)
  • AI/ML security awareness: LLM-integrated features, prompt injection, agent tool permissions, model and data-pipeline risks
  • Experience with autonomous or AI-augmented penetration testing and attack simulation, and a view on how it complements human-led testing
  • Security certifications (OSCP, OSWE, GWAPT, CSSLP) or published research, CVEs, or open-source security contributions
  • Experience supporting SOC 2 / ISO 27001 controls as the engineering owner of the control, not the program owner

The Shape of This Role

This is the senior individual-contributor counterpart to the Senior Manager, Application Security. The manager owns the program, the strategy, and the team; you own the technical depth and the execution. The two roles are designed to work as a pair: you’ll bring the findings, the engineering judgment, and the ground truth from inside the codebase, and together you’ll decide what to prioritize.

As a Staff engineer, you are expected to operate with a high degree of independence — scoping ambiguous problems, setting technical direction for AppSec, and driving multi-quarter initiatives without needing day-to-day direction. As the founding engineer of a dedicated AppSec function, the patterns, tooling, and standards you establish will be the foundation the practice grows on.

This is not a role for someone who wants to primarily write policy or manage a program from a distance. It’s for an engineer who finds real bugs, builds real tooling, and earns the trust of other engineers by making their code better.

Why This Role?

  • Shape a dedicated AppSec function from its first days, with a manager and a mandate behind you — this investment is sponsored at the VP level and prioritized
  • A security problem that actually matters: Fingerprint’s customers use us to stop fraud and abuse. The adversaries are real, skilled, and motivated — the threat model here is more interesting than at most SaaS companies
  • Modern stack and tooling already in place: Snyk, Wiz, Cloudflare, Okta, and a Cloud Platform team that treats security as a partner, not an obstacle
  • Your time goes to engineering: Compliance, IT, and infrastructure are each owned by capable teams, so you spend your days on code, findings, and tooling — not evidence collection or ticket queues
  • Staff-level scope and autonomy: You set the technical direction for application security at a company where security is a differentiator in enterprise sales

Compensation & Transparency

At Fingerprint, we believe in pay transparency — it’s part of how we operate as a distributed, remote-first team.  Salaries are based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies.

Because this role is open across the United States and can be based anywhere our team members work from, the salary range reflects that geographic breadth: $177k - $240k

Some example salaries for specific locations are below:

NYC: $209K - $240k

Chicago: $177k - $204k

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including the successful candidate’s location, experience, and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Due to regulatory and security reasons, there’s a small number of countries where we cannot have Fingerprint teammates based. Additionally, because Fingerprint is an all-remote company and people can join our workforce from almost any country, we do not sponsor visas. Fingerprint teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location.

We are dedicated to creating an inclusive work environment for everyone. We embrace and celebrate the unique experiences, perspectives and cultural backgrounds that each employee brings to our workplace. Fingerprint strives to foster an environment where our employees feel respected, valued and empowered, and our team members are at the forefront in helping us promote and sustain an inclusive workplace. We highly encourage people from underrepresented groups in tech to apply.

If you are applying as a resident of California, please read our CCPA notice here.

If you are applying as a resident of the EU, please read our GDPR notice here.

**We have noticed a rise in recruiting impersonations across the industry, where scammers attempt to access candidates’ personal and financial information through fake interviews and offers. All Fingerprint recruiting email communications will always come from the @fingerprint.com domain. Any outreach claiming to be from Fingerprint via other sources should be ignored.

  • Certification and Audit Execution — Drive audit cycles end to end for SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 / 27701 / 42001: evidence collection, control testing, auditor liaison, and remediation tracking. Support gap assessments for net-new certifications we’re evaluating.
  • FedRAMP Program Support — Support our FedRAMP efforts, including gap analysis, remediation planning, documentation development, and coordination with 3PAO assessors.
  • Continuous Control Monitoring — Operate the year-round monitoring cadence that keeps certifications live between audits — scan and pen test reporting, control drift detection, and evidence freshness.
  • Vendor Risk Management — Run vendor security assessments, evaluating security controls and compliance posture before acquisition, and help mature our third-party risk program.
  • Risk Assessment and Management — Conduct risk analyses for systems, processes, and third-party applications, and implement appropriate controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Customer Security Assurance — Respond to customer security inquiries, questionnaires, and audit requests, and support Sales on RFPs and RFQs. Keep our Trust Center documentation current.
  • Contract Review and Management — Partner with Legal to review contracts for security and compliance requirements, ensure appropriate security provisions are included, identify compliance risks and recommend mitigating controls. Help develop standardized security language for various contract types.
  • Compliance Automation — Use Tines to streamline compliance processes, evidence collection and reporting, and reduce the manual load on the team.
  • Policy Development and Maintenance — Review, update and develop security policies and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration — Partner with Engineering, Product, IT, Legal, HR and leadership to embed compliance requirements into organizational processes.
  • Regulatory Monitoring — Stay current with evolving compliance standards and regulatory requirements relevant to our business and our customers.

What you bring with you:

  • 8-12 years of experience in IT compliance, security, or risk management
  • Hands-on experience implementing or maintaining ISO 27001 compliance
  • Strong knowledge of SOC 2 compliance frameworks and audit processes, including evidence collection and control testing
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP certification processes and requirements
  • Experience conducting vendor security assessments and risk analyses
  • Excellent understanding of information security principles, controls, and best practices
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple compliance initiatives simultaneously
  • Exceptional communication skills for translating technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders
  • Previous experience on the audit side — at a 3PAO or audit firm (e.g. Coalfire, Schellman, KPMG) — or driving gap remediation for certification readiness
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM
  • Experience with compliance automation tools and techniques, or scripting/API experience for evidence automation
  • Continuous monitoring (ConMon) and compliance reporting experience
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles and controls (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience reviewing contracts for security and compliance requirements
  • Experience in SaaS or technology companies
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA)
  • Experience working in remote-first environments

Target Annual Compensation: $175,000-190,000

What this role involves

Tines is the intelligent workflow company that powers some of the world’s most important workflows.

Tines has been supporting IT and security teams from a diverse range of customers, including Canva, Reddit, SAP, Coinbase, Mars, Fin (Intercom), and McKesson.

Tines 3B, launched in 2026, is the next generation of Tines – a single, secure environment for every team’s apps, agents and automations.

As an integrator across the entire tech stack, Tines is vendor-agnostic integrating with any API-enabled service. This flexibility enables our customers to achieve their highest-priority goals faster. Tines has security woven into its DNA, and our platform is secure and private by design.

At Tines, we’re driven by our values of Simplicity, Speed, and Soundness. We’re committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences while fostering a company culture that nurtures individual curiosity, growth, and integrity. We’re excited about what’s next, and we’re looking for others to join us on our journey.

We are looking for a Staff GRC Analyst who will be the bridge between technical engineering teams and external auditors. The role will work closely with Security, Engineering, Product, IT, and Legal, going beyond checklist compliance by examining technical configurations, validating data flows, and helping build automated safeguards across a multi-cloud environment.

This is a key role reporting to our Director of GRC and can be based remotely in the United States. This is a technical role that will independently own their area of responsibility, improve existing approaches, and advise stakeholders as new security requirements are adopted.

What you will be doing:

  • Partner with Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to translate FedRAMP High, DoD IL4/IL5, CMMC, NIST SP 800-53⁄800-171, SOC 2, ISO, and other security requirements into actionable technical controls and implementation standards across AWS and Azure.
  • Assess technical implementations across infrastructure, networking, containers, databases, IAM, encryption, logging, and vulnerability management to validate alignment with control requirements.
  • Define evidence requirements and work directly with technical teams to validate control implementation, identify gaps, and drive remediation.
  • Support FedRAMP authorization and ongoing operations, including ConMon, POA&M management, vulnerability reporting, evidence packages, and significant change management.
  • Support external assessments and audits, including 3PAO engagements and audit readiness.
  • Monitor evolving federal requirements (including FedRAMP 20x) and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Identify opportunities to scale compliance through automation and policy-as-code

What you bring with you:

  • 12+ years’ experience in security compliance, technical GRC, cloud security, IT audit, or related technical governance roles.
  • Hands-on experience translating compliance requirements into technical controls and configuration standards.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud/SaaS security (IAM, encryption, logging, vulnerability management, secure SDLC).
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP authorization, ConMon, POA&M management, and external assessments.
  • PMP, CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CCSP are a plus

Target Annual Compensation: $215,000 - 230,000

Applicants for this opportunity must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
